Race report FIM Europe Supermono Cup round 2
Last weekend 37 participants take part in the second round of FIM Europe Supermono Cup at the Battle of the Lowlands on the circuit of Zolder (B). This round was a cooperation with the KTM Duke Battle. This weekend the riders were exposed to all weather conditions and it was therefore a very exciting weekend.
The results from these combined class are as follows:
Race 1 1. Arie Vos on his KTM Duke 690, 2. Lukas Wimmer on a HKR EVO2 R en Jerry van de Bunt 3 on the Happeck Rotax 449. This race was held during lots of rain and therefore had a large number of drop-outs. Unfortunately Mike Velthuijzen, the triple Supermono Champion, had a technical problem so he could not start.
Race 2 Jerry van de Bunt 1, Ezequiel Iturrioz 2 en Arie Vos 3. Although this race took place in dry weather and occasionally with a firm sunshine, this race was full of incidents and had to be stopped in the 8th round after a highsider from # 5 Johann Karl. Fortunately he only had a minor injury to his hand.

1. Jerry van de Bunt (NL) 2. Ezequiel Iturrioz (ARG) 3. Mike Velthuijzen (NL)
Jerry van de Bunt started this race again from pole, but had difficulties to get away. So he entered the first corner as third. But he had a good pace and took the lead after the second section of the first lap and did not gave this position away. He finished the race first. Lukas Wimmer caught an oil trail in the third lap and made a strange pirouette which means the end of the race for him. Ezequiel Iturrioz tried to get to Jerry van the Bunt, but did not succeed and ended second. The race was stopped in the eight round and this was exactly on time for Mike Velthuijzen. He suffered again with mechanical problems after a great start, and it looks like he could not finish the race. Fortunately for him the race was stopped and ended as third.
